Chimney Repairs in Doncaster

A leaking chimney is behind more roof damp than most people realise. We repoint, re-flaunch and re-lead stacks so the water stays outside where it belongs.

Chimney problems we fix

Because the stack sits highest and most exposed on the roof, its mortar, flaunching and flashing weather first. Sorting them early keeps a bit of pointing from turning into a rebuilt stack and a damaged ceiling.

  • Damp patches on the ceiling below the chimney breast
  • Crumbling, missing or perished mortar joints
  • Cracked flaunching around the chimney pots
  • Slipped, cracked or poorly fitted lead flashing
  • Loose or spalling bricks on the stack
  • A redundant chimney you'd like removing safely

Leadwork done properly

Most chimney leaks come down to the flashing where the stack meets the roof. We use correctly sized, correctly dressed lead — not mastic and hope — so the repair actually lasts.

Spotting damp elsewhere too? Our roof repairs service covers the rest of the roof.

Chimney repair FAQs

Do you carry out chimney repairs and repointing? +
Yes. Repointing worn mortar joints, renewing the flaunching around the pots, replacing cracked or slipped lead flashing and repairing brickwork are all regular jobs for us. A leaking chimney is one of the most common sources of water getting into a roof.
Why is my chimney leaking? +
Chimneys take the full force of the weather, so the usual culprits are perished mortar joints, cracked flaunching around the pots, and failed lead flashing where the stack meets the roof. We trace the actual cause rather than just treating the symptom.
Do you do chimney leadwork and flashing? +
We do. Properly dressed lead flashing and soakers are what keep the join between chimney and roof watertight. We replace tired, cracked or badly fitted lead with correctly sized, correctly dressed leadwork.
Can you remove a chimney that's no longer used? +
Yes — where a chimney is redundant we can take the stack down to roof level (or lower) and make the roof good and watertight over the opening. We'll advise on the best option for your property.
Is scaffolding needed for chimney work? +
It depends on the height and position of the stack and the extent of the work. Some repairs can be done from a tower or safely from the roof; more involved work needs proper scaffold access. We'll include any access costs clearly in your quote.

We provide chimney repairs across Doncaster, Rotherham, Barnsley, Worksop and the wider Doncaster area.
