When to sort your flat roof

Flat roofs take a beating from Yorkshire weather, and older felt in particular has a habit of failing right when the rain arrives. Whether it needs a repair or a full new system, we'll match the right covering to the job.

  • Ponding water sitting on the roof after rain
  • Splits, cracks or blisters in old felt
  • Leaks into an extension, garage or dormer below
  • Lifting or failed edge trims and flashings
  • A tired felt roof you'd like to upgrade to rubber or fibreglass
  • New extension needing a flat roof from scratch

Three systems, one honest recommendation

EPDM rubber — one-piece, long-life, great for larger flat roofs and extensions.

GRP fibreglass — seamless, tough and walk-on, ideal for balconies and dormers.

Felt — modern torch-on felt, a cost-effective choice for garages and outbuildings.

Flat roofing FAQs

What types of flat roofing do you install? +
We install EPDM rubber, GRP fibreglass and high-performance torch-on felt. EPDM is a hard-wearing single-sheet rubber that's ideal for extensions and larger flat roofs; GRP fibreglass gives a seamless, walk-on finish popular on balconies and dormers; modern felt remains a cost-effective option for garages and outbuildings.
Should I repair or replace my flat roof? +
A flat roof with a single split, blister or failed lap can often be repaired. But if the covering is old felt that's cracking across the whole surface, holding water, or leaking in several places, a new system is usually the better long-term value. We'll give you an honest recommendation after inspecting it.
Can you fix a leaking flat roof? +
Yes. We repair splits, blisters, failed seams and worn flashings on existing flat roofs. If the roof is near the end of its life we'll tell you, so you're not paying for repairs on a covering that needs replacing.
How long does a flat roof last? +
A quality EPDM rubber or GRP fibreglass flat roof, correctly installed, typically lasts 20–30 years or more. Older-style felt roofs have a shorter life, which is why many homeowners upgrade to rubber or fibreglass when the time comes to replace.
Do you re-roof garages and extensions? +
We do — flat roofs on garages, extensions, dormers, porches and outbuildings are a big part of what we do across Doncaster. We strip the old covering, check and repair the deck, then fit the new system.

We provide flat roofing across Doncaster, Rotherham, Barnsley, Worksop and the wider Doncaster area.
