Roof Replacement in Doncaster

When repairs have run their course, a properly built new roof is the last one you'll think about for decades. Stripped, felted, battened and finished — done right.

Signs your roof needs replacing

Not every old roof needs replacing — but when the covering has genuinely reached the end of its life, another patch repair only delays the inevitable. Here's when a full re-roof is the sensible, better-value choice.

  • Widespread cracked, porous or delaminating tiles or slates
  • Repeated leaks in different parts of the roof
  • Sagging or dipping rooflines and tired timbers
  • An old roof that's had one repair too many
  • Failed underlay letting daylight or drips through in the loft
  • Wanting to upgrade before selling or extending the house

Repair might be enough

If your roof is fundamentally sound with an isolated fault, we'll say so — a repair is often all that's needed. We only recommend a re-roof when the condition of the covering genuinely warrants it.

Either way, you get an honest assessment and a clear written quote before any work begins.

How it works

1

Full survey

We assess the whole roof — covering, timbers, ridge, flashings and drainage — so the quote reflects the real job.

2

Written quote

A detailed price with the covering, membrane, battens, scaffolding and timescale all set out clearly.

3

The re-roof

Strip the old roof, renew underlay and battens, replace any bad timber and fit your new tiles or slate.

4

Guaranteed

A finished, watertight roof with a workmanship guarantee — and the site left clean and tidy.

Roof replacement FAQs

How much does a new roof cost in Doncaster? +
A new roof is priced on the size and pitch of the roof, the covering you choose (concrete tile, clay tile or slate), access and scaffolding, and whether the timbers need attention. Because every roof differs, we give you a detailed written quote after a proper survey rather than a vague ballpark.
How long does it take to replace a house roof? +
A typical semi-detached or terraced house re-roof usually takes a few days to around a week, weather permitting. Larger or more complex roofs take longer. We'll give you a realistic timescale when we quote and keep you updated as the job progresses.
Will you replace the felt and battens too? +
Yes. A proper re-roof means stripping the old covering, replacing the underlay (breathable membrane) and battens, and renewing any damaged timber before the new tiles or slates go on. Re-using tired felt and battens is a false economy we don't do.
Can you match my existing tiles or slate? +
In most cases, yes — we'll match the profile and colour as closely as possible, whether that's concrete tile, clay or natural/reconstituted slate. We'll talk you through the options and show you samples where it helps.
Do I need planning permission for a new roof? +
Replacing a roof on a like-for-like basis is normally permitted development and doesn't need planning permission. If you're changing the roof shape, adding rooms in the loft or live in a conservation area or listed building, different rules can apply — we'll flag anything to check.

We provide roof replacement and re-roofing across Doncaster, Rotherham, Barnsley, Worksop and the wider Doncaster area.
